Online Therapy for Caregiver Stress and Emotional Exhaustion

Support for Caregivers in Missouri

Caregiving can hold love, responsibility, advocacy, grief, and exhaustion at the same time. Safe Harbor offers individual online therapy for caregivers and parents who need space for their own emotional well-being.

You Are More Than the Role You Carry

Therapy creates time to focus on the person doing the caring.

When someone depends on you, your needs may keep moving to the bottom of the list. You may be coordinating appointments, managing uncertainty, advocating within complicated systems, supporting other family members, and trying to keep daily life moving.

Parents of children with disabilities and other long-term caregivers may also carry grief, guilt, resentment, loneliness, or fear about the future. Having those feelings does not cancel your love or commitment. It means the role asks something real of you.

Therapy creates time to focus on the person doing the caring, not only the next task.

What Individual Therapy Can Address

Support shaped for your actual life

Your goals might include:

• Recognizing burnout and chronic overwhelm earlier

• Making room for grief, anger, guilt, or conflicting emotions

• Managing anxiety and uncertainty

• Setting boundaries with family, work, schools, or care systems

• Reconnecting with interests and identity outside caregiving

• Communicating needs more directly

• Finding routines that are realistic for your actual life

The purpose is not to give you another list of things to do perfectly. Sessions can help you decide what support would be meaningful and what expectations may need to change.

Care That Respects Complexity

Individual therapy for the caregiver, not another task list

Therapy may include grounding skills, emotional processing, examining self-critical beliefs, practicing boundaries, and identifying moments when rest or help is possible. The approach should account for limited time, interrupted plans, financial or practical pressure, and the reality that some circumstances cannot simply be solved.

Safe Harbor’s caregiver service focuses on you as the caregiver. It is not child therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, or case management. A clinician can help you focus on your own responses, choices, and well-being without implying control over another person or a family outcome.
